How our rankings work

“Best” means the highest-ranked candidate in our available dataset for that dish and area. Coverage is incomplete and changes as evidence is collected.

Three different counts

• Restaurant review totals: counts reported by source listings. They include reviews about other dishes and are not the number of review texts we read.
• Collected reviews: review records available to our pipeline. Older pages do not consistently record this separately, so we do not infer it from listing totals.
• Dish mentions: recorded mentions matched to the dish. These are evidence counts, not necessarily unique diners or independent visits.

The score

The current automated score combines the source’s overall restaurant rating with a bonus for dish mentions relative to the source review total. The rating contributes up to seven points and the mention bonus up to three. It is a BiteRanked comparison score, not a customer star rating.

Sentiment and dated review trends provide additional context where available. They are not independent proof of quality, and the current score does not directly weight review recency. Older imported rankings may use earlier scoring methods.

What publication checks mean

New rankings are checked for candidate coverage, dish mentions, matching evidence, consistent scoring and usable image or explicit missing-image states. Older records use a separate minimum-evidence check. Passing these checks does not establish that every relevant venue was considered or that a person verified the recommendation.

Dates, photos and practical details

The page date is its recorded ranking update, not a guarantee that every menu, image or review was collected that day. Dish photos require matching evidence; venue photos are not substituted as proof of a particular dish. Restaurant price ranges are not dish prices. Confirm current availability, prices and hours with the venue.

Using your location

Location detection compares your position with covered city centres in your browser. Displayed distances are approximate straight-line distances to those centres, not walking distances or distances to restaurants.
